Nobu London Description
Nobu London is featured in these Guides:
Opened in 1997, Nobu London remains one of the city’s top dining hot spots. The eponymous restaurant was the first European venture for the celebrated Japanese Chef Nobuyuki Matsuhisa and was opened in conjunction with partners Robert de Niro, restaurateur Drew Nieporent and hotel owner Christina Ong.
With its own street entrance on Old Park Lane, the restaurant occupies the first floor of the trendy Metropolitan Hotel. The 150 cover restaurant includes a separate sushi bar and the minimalist, chic interior boasts stunning view across Hyde Park through full height windows. Designed by United Designers the interiors make subtle use of light woods and natural stone to reflect the diverse influences of Nobu’s cuisine, incorporating the purity and quality materials inherent of traditional Japanese design.
The menu at Nobu London captures Matsuhisa’s “new style” Japanese cuisine, where traditional Japanese techniques meet South American flavours. This new style cuisine is a reflection of Matsuhisa’s training as a sushi chef in Tokyo, combined with his extensive travels. This cuisine has become his trademark and the foundation of his worldwide success. Signature dishes include Yellowtail Sashimi with Jalapeno, Tuna Sashimi Salad with Matsuhisa Dressing, the sizzling Beef Toban Yaki and the famous Black Cod in Miso.
Nobu London was awarded one Michelin Star in 1998, one year after opening, which it still retains today....read more

“Although the atmosphere can be a bit 'rahhaha I'm a banker and I'm at Nobu so I can be loud' the food is out of this world. The best sushi I have tasted and the most attentive service. We went for my partners boyfriend and they really looked after us, even presented him with a candle and message on his dessert. No visit is complete without the Wagyu beef and foie gras gyoza... heaven on a plate”

“Much fuss is made about the difficulty of obtaining tables at this swanky iconic restaurant in London's Park Lane, however, book sensibly in advance (1-2 month's and we had a table for 30) and one of the best food experiences in London is yours. The food created here by the restaurants nakesake, Nobu Matsuhisa, is imaginative, innovative, and above all downright tasty! The service was excellent, with all of the courses (9 in total) being served smoothly and timely, and despite the exclusive outer/media persona all of the staff were friendly, courteous and helpful. Get yourself on the guestlist (or book a room) for a few after dinner drinks in the fashionable Met Bar housed downstairs (both restaurant and bar are housed in the Metropolitan Hotel) to finish the night off nicely. Altogether a fab night out, shall be returning soon.”

“Tuesday evening the 18th August.
After hearing so much about the Nobu, I decided it was time to try the best, or so I have lead to believe. Whilst myself and my girlfriend were not impressed by the decor or table layout, we soon became impressed by the menu and fabulous wines. The food was unbelievable to say the least, despite a balloonist gentleman breaking and spiling his wine twice on the next table, once directly on myself.
Without going on too much, we spent £160.00 for the both of us (cheep night) for a three course meal, wine and cocktails. The next time we go we shall double the spend as I now know it will be worth it.
I have tried many restaurants around London and Manchester, and the only one that comes anywhere near the Nobu is the Lowery hotel in Manchester.”
