The Churchill Arms Review
The Churchill Arms is featured in these Guides:
Perhaps a migraine has migrated your way after you took on the Madness at the Portobello Market? Or maybe your aching feet have had just about enough of the Notting Hill Carnival and are threatening to declare independence from the rest of your body.
Nevermind, relief is mere moments away – in the form of Winston Churchill, and his chubby, yet welcoming Arms.
As a 200-year-old public house / Thai restaurant / junk yard crossover goes, this is the dog’s bollards. There is nothing more strangely inviting than the prospect of chowing on some Gai Pad Khing whilst necking a soothing Fuller’s and simultaneously contemplating a hodgepodge of salvaged oddities hanging from a cross-beamed ceiling.
Unusually for pubs these days, there is no music; perhaps indicative of an unspoken rule that conversation is the only music you’ll need - percussion comes courtesy of clinking glasses.
Unfrequented? Hardly. As 1998’s Evening Standard Pub-of-the-Year, it can get busier than a victory parade....read more

“I've been going to Churchill Arms on and off for over 5 years and I have never encountered bad service. The service is fine, the staff are professional and courteous, they serve you your food and pass you the bill. If you want Michelin Service go to the Ritz and pay over the odds for a bit of meat.
I hadn't been in over a year and I went there yesterday (Bank Holiday Sunday) with two friends. It was nice to get out of the rain. They were both impressed and so was I.
My only one very minor gripe is that the protions looked a tad smaller than I usually have. I often get the chicken with cashew nuts but there did not appear to be many cashews. Maybe it was me but I can't grumble, the food was hot, fresh and nice and CHEAP.
This restaurant comes highly recommended.”
