The Anglers Review
The Anglers is featured in these Guides:
The Anglers situated on the River Thames by Teddington Lock is an ideal pub for families, and for that matter anyone else enjoying the sun. We however, arrived on a cold Sunday in November. It has a large car park at the front which was surprisingly busy, and so we had to park further along Broom Road. When we arrived we walked into the garden, which backs onto the Thames and has mooring with space for three boats. In the garden we were pleased to find people enjoying both food and drink in the winters sun, and children playing in the enclosed play area containing a climbing frame and slides, with a safe surface.
When we entered the pub we found a table close to the bar and on asking the staff, was recommended some lunch from their Sunday menu. While we were waiting for our food to arrive I enjoyed a pint from their good selection of guest ales. The food arrived in good time and we quickly tucked in. I was not disappointed with my traditional steak and ale pie, which was certainly not straight from the local supermarket. I followed this with frozen forest fruit yoghurt, which was an excellent lighter choice after the size of my main course.
After lunch I had a look around the bar and found a cosy lounge room upstairs which can be hired for parties and functions. As an added bonus it contains a pool table and ‘Millionnaire’ machine for those who like to play bar games whilst hiding away from the crowds downstairs.
One thing that stands out when thinking of The Anglers is how friendly and accommodating all of the staff are. Good food, Good beer, Good pub, I look forward to my return....read more
The Anglers Description
The Anglers sits on a tranquil spot over-looking the Thames, just by Teddington Lock – site of Monty Python’s famous fish fighting scene. The pub, with its large spacious bar, airy conservatory and large garden has plenty of seating both inside and out. It offers easy access to river walks and even has its own mooring points for boats.
