Moro is featured in these Guides:
A 'Best Restaurant of the Year' winner at the Observer Food Monthly Awards, Moro restaurant opened in 1997, and lies at the heart of the lively pedestrianised street, Exmouth Market. Known for its award-winning Moorish cuisine, the restaurant is popular not only with diners, but with those who come in to enjoy tapas, which are served throughout the day.
The restaurant’s décor is understated yet welcoming: polished wooden floors, a long zinc bar and an open view to the kitchen and its charcoal grill and wood-burning oven, create a relaxed atmosphere reminiscent of the lively tapas bars and neighbourhood restaurants of the Mediterranean. In summer, outdoor tables make an ideal spot from which to watch local life pass by.
Moro is inspired by a cuisine which has its roots in Spain and the Muslim Mediterranean. These two regions are linked historically by the Moors’ 700 year occupation of Spain (from the eighth to the fifteenth century). Two great culinary traditions were drawn together, in what is often known as the marriage of saffron and cinnamon. Today you will find at Moro dishes which remain faithful to their specific origins, whether they are Spanish or North African.
Moro’s kitchen is alive. The wood burning oven and charcoal grill are both fed throughout the day, and the aroma of the sourdough bread baking pervades the air. There are silent cultures of homemade yoghurt, and fermenting vinegar hidden away from the constant clamour of the kitchen. Colour, texture and taste are combined on the diner’s plate....read more

“This is among my favorite restaurants in the world. Consistently innovative, decidedly offbeat, and with some of the best sourced ingredients in London. Though it still seems odd to say that London could be a destination for culinary reasons alone, I often find myself (a US resident) finding a way to stop off in London on my way back from a trip to France or Spain in order to make it to Moro.
Wine list (while perhaps more Portuguese than many would like) is interesting and never ceases to impress, even if it is a little overpriced - it complements the food.
Waiters are not always as knowledgable as they might be in a far more expensive restaurant, but certainly know what they like.
I couldn't imagine a better place to take a date who cares more for food than for glitz. Satisfying a date with those criteria can be hard in London - but Moro does it time and again.”

“Terrible service from the management and staff on two occasions. They were rude and miserable to 5 of us (guests visiting London included) when we ordered a second cab due to rain after spending £200 on a meal last night. And this was after they were paid an automatic add-on 12.5% service charge. This is the second time in the same year where previously they provided extremely rude service to 15 of us. I would not recommend you bringing any of your friends and family to this place.”
