Cafe Sol Dos Review

A brightly coloured restaurant / bar offering a Latin taste with it's Central American feel, Cafe Sol breaks the mould of the other bars in the immediate vicinity.

Packed with tables for two, sample dishes including the Fajita salad (£6.95) and the Char grilled and marinated chicken (£8.95) appear to be good value, if wanting to eat on a Friday or Sat book a good week in advance

In the evenings things really kick off as customers fuelled by assorted Jose-Cuero push the tables aside and grind Latin-style through to midnight and beyond.

A good warm place to pick you up, if you’re fancying some of the ‘Latin spirit that’s in every one of us’ – watch out for that tabby.

Cafe Sol Dos Description

Café Sol Dos launched into Clapham in the Autumn of 1997. The man behind Café Sol is Gianni Monachello, born into the world of restaurants. His parents owned one of the most patronized establishments in London, Il Caretto. Frequented by movie stars and socialites, Il Caretto served The Greatest City On Earth the finest Italian food and top drawer entertainment for over 30 years.

The infectious, clubable atmosphere of Il Caretto was a huge influence on the young Gianni. He quickly understood that to keep folks coming back to your place, you have to make them feel part of something special. Gianni honed his skill in Café Sol Uno. His guests knew that they were in on a secret. That secret got out and into Clapham, where Café Sol Dos carries on this noble tradition.

Good food is a staple ingredient at Café Sol. Years of research have gone into 'getting it right'. Gianni and his team have got it so right that they are constantly paid the highest compliment - the patronage of Mexicans themselves.

Only the freshest quality produce is used at Café Sol, but that's only part of why your meal is so damned tasty. The chefs follow timed honoured tradition, the Mexican Way in order to bring you the best.

The Restaurant floor isn't the only place that it all happens. The Bar at Café Sol Dos is an Altar. An Altar to excellence. Gianni won't hire anybody to serve at the Altar, who hasn't done 'The Course'. The bar staff are trained to the highest standard, and the quality of the famous Sol Cocktails is unsurpassed.

“This was my first experence here and my god how bad was it food was average at best and was rushed in and out in 40 mins thats starter main and drinks! Plus before the food was was finished they was taking the plate and before the money was put on the plate thy were taking it never will i go back and i would advise anybody to stay away.”

“I saw this in the Latin section, that's totally wrong. Its just a fajita restaurant, that turns into a disco-thing after on Fri/Sat, full of Claphamites getting too drunk and trying to get laid. The Old woman who meets you on the door is generally very rude. But if all you're after is fajitas it's OK!”
