Picture of MEATmarket, a Restaurant in London

MEATmarket (Restaurant)
The Deck, Jubilee Market Hall, Tavistock Street, Covent Garden, West End, London, WC2E 8BE
“This place is a bit tricky to find so I suggest approaching along Tavistock Street instead of the Covent Garden piazza side. It's basically on a balcony above the 'tacky' market on the south side of Covent Garden, above all the chintz sellers. Wrap up warm because it's chilly up there during winter. A great use of space though and love the authentic decor. The Philly cheesesteak could be cheesier but delicious nonetheless. Boozy milkshakes are a good call too.”

“Great quirky location, nice little beer garden outside, a decent selection of beers on tap, plenty of comfy seating, roaring fire, a comedy club upstairs twice a week (free to get in too I think), and loads of cool, beautiful people. The best pub in Angel.”

Roadtrip (Bar)
243 Old Street, Shoreditch, London, EC1V 9EY
“Went in here for the first time last night and although this bar gets marked down for not having any ales or bitters (even though they have about 16 types of lager), the vibe is certainly pretty cool. Part punk, part Americana, part nouveau-riche, this bar will appeal to the rockers and the rollers of Shoreditch. Especially with the new live band club downstairs. The burgers and pizzas are quite decent too.”

“There are two reasons why myself and my mates like coming here. (a) Top, top tunes. (b) Hot, hot girls. If you like either (a) or (b) to be just a little bit indie and very very cool, then this is the pub for you. Easily the best pub in Shoreditch.”

“Another brilliant cocktail bar idea to hit Shoreditch. Will this trend never end?! The mixture of Prohibition speakeasy cocktails and live music make this one of my new favourite bars. Not particularly easy to find, but worth it nonetheless.”

“I'm not sure what it's like at night (although I have heard it has some top jazz), but during the day this is a great place for a bit of wifi, a coffee, and some cool surroundings. The layout is quite modern and really bright. Great for gazing out of the window.”

“This bar and restaurant is a true hidden gem. Nobody would hardly know it's there. But boy does it pack a punch. Fantastic food, really great wine list, plus it's a bar, a pub, and a restaurant all rolled into one. Perfect for those cosy Sunday afternoons. The staff are super friendly too so don't be afraid to ask questions. They know their stuff.”

“Absolutely superb. The service is incredible (especially the knowledgeable sommelier) and the food is beautifully creative. This is an ideal restaurant for anyone looking to get away from the crowds. Celebrities, bankers, and those happy to splurge a bit of cash on a romantic meal right near Hyde Park, you will all love it. A truly remarkable experience.”

“Two reasons I love this pub: the massive beer garden out the back (deceptively narrow this pub); and the fine selection of ales on tap. Yeh, even girls can like ales you know! I also like how the interior is quite plush. Nice one Young's for bringing South West London yet another stylish pub that locals like myself actually want to hang out in.”

Picture of McQueen Lounge Bar & Club, a Bar, Club in London

McQueen Lounge Bar & Club (Bar / Club)
55-61 Tabernacle Street, Shoreditch, London, EC2A 4AA
“There's no denying that the cocktails are some of the best cocktails in Shoreditch, but the decor and the whole 'City' vibe is just a little out of place in Shoreditch. This bar needs to be about half a mile down towards Liverpool Street, Moorgate and Bank. It's meant for suits and people who get the Essex train into London for a night out. Brown leather absolutely everywhere - come on people! Looked good in the 90s. The previous incarnation - Tabernacle? - was much better. What happened to the disco floor downstairs? Now it's just pictures of naked ladies and shot girls wandering about. Trashy. Still, good place to satrt an evening for a quiet cocktail.”

“Outstanding fish dishes and hot sake. If you're looking for a swanky restaurant away from the maddening crowds of Leicester Square and Covent Garden then this West End Japanese restaurant (just opposite Stringfellows) is the schizzle. Slick, chic, shiny - it's a WAG's wet dream. Feels almost like a high end club. Recommend a cocktail upstairs first.”

“Possibly the best new bar in all of London, and easily the best hidden gem bar in London. The cocktails are amazing - real alchemy sh*t, these guys know their stuff - and if you like quirky bars with hidden dens and Victorian charm, you'll love this bar. Old school vibe in modern central London.”

Salvador & Amanda (Bar / Restaurant)
8 Great Newport Street, West End, London, WC2H 7JA
“I had a most enjoyable evening here the other night with a beautiful woman. We finished up here after closing all the other bars in the area and this bar had the right kind of atmosphere for us to carry on. It stays open late so it's popular with student, foreign visitors going out in the Leicester Square area and anyone who works in the hospitality industry. So quite an enjoyable mix of folk and a funky mix of music. £3.50 a piece or a bottle of beer - not bad for the area.”
Atmosphere: Value: Quality:
Barry Lashes, West Ham 06 Nov 10

Masaledar (Restaurant)
121 Upper Tooting Road, Tooting, London, SW17 7TJ
“I've lived in Tooting for about 8 years now and this is definitely the best Indian restaurant in the area. The recent refurbishment has made it quite a cool place to hang out too: the glass-covered kitchen so you can watch the magic happen; the water feature wall; the sparkly walls; the mood lighting. And the food is excellent considering the price they ask for it. The spices aren't too hot either so if you normally go a korma, extend your boundaries and try something a little meaner. You wont regret it. BYOB perfect with Tescos just over the road too.”

Picture of Tayyabs, a Restaurant in Whitechapel, London

Tayyabs (Restaurant)
83-89 Fieldgate Street, Whitechapel & Wapping, London, E1 1JU
“Many people believe Tayyabs is the best Pakistani restaurant in London. I think it's definitely up there, but not possibly the best. It's certainly popular. We reserved a table for 12 on a Tuesday night and we still had to wait in line for half an hour. It's insanely busy in there. The service is great though and the lamb chops are legendary (my main reason for going really). But I did find some of the food a tad greasy and I couldn't help thinking that there must be better curry restaurants in London. I might stick with Tooting next time.”

Loved

"Who doesnt love The Clapham Grand? It offers fun clubbing in such a beautiful venue, its an old theater and still has lots of orginal features. Music is really commecial, sometimes cheesy but where else..." Which venue is this?

Hated
