Portobello Ristorante Pizzeria (Restaurant)
7 Ladbroke Road, Notting Hill, London, W11 3PA
“Whilst the food here was OK, my dining partner ordered a calzone which was a very poor excuse for a pizza with no explanation or apology as to why the pizza resembled a stuffed crust rather than a true calzone folded pizza. The service was poor and we were left with plates on our table for a good fifteen minutes after we had finished eating. We had to ask twice for the bill after we finally got the attention of one of the staff and were then hounded down after we chose not to pay the discretionary service charge. I wouldnt recommend this restaurant to anyone.”

“The food is excellent and the service is pretty good. It's in a hotel so is on the pricey side, but good value if you want freshly-made Japanese food. Recommended.”

Willy's Wine Bar & Restaurant (Bar / Restaurant)

“A busy City wine bar with a great atmosphere. Some great daily specials aswell as the a la carte menu. It claims to have the 'best fish and chips in the City' and I can't disagree with that! A fantastic selection of wines and I was recommended a super bottle for under £20 which complimented the meal, but was allowed to taste several others before deciding. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about the food and wine they were serving.”

“I have to agree with Mr W - no idea what the other review (2 years old?) are on about. The bar on a Saturday night was as good as it gets - great buzz, great drinks and great time. We ate in the bar, just some nibbles, but it was the perfect accompaniement to some great cocktails. Cant wait for next weekend to go back.”

Love the place, the people are very friendly and always make anyone welcome, John is the nuts, always joking and making sure you are having fun. For those that knew me, shouting out to Zeke, Mr Gary Weekes(RIP), u r missed, Jodie and Darean, so many friends. Love to u all at Charlies. Peace”

“This is by far one of my favourite Indian restaurants in London. The service is wholesome and friendly, never failing to make you feel welcome and the food is fantastic. Ask anyone about Kadiri's and they will rave about the famous Biryanis. I also hear you can do a bit of celebrity spotting in the restaurant...but I am yet to see someone I recognise!!!”

Proud Cabaret (Restaurant / Club)
No. 1 Mark Lane, Corner of Dunster Court and Mark Lane, Fenchurch Street, London, EC3R 7AH
“I loved my evening at Proud Cabaret. It is difficult to elaborate more than that, when one is presented with the rare conundrum of what was specifically the best part of an overall perfect evening? Was it the ambiance –which, modelled on a 1920’s speakeasy is elegant, sophisticated and full of comforting vintage charm? Was it the food, which came in a three course extravaganza of delicate seafood, flavoursome meat (although vegetarians were equally well catered for) and finished with a tantalising chocolate hazelnut dessert that left the mouth craving for more? Or was it the magical transformation from chilled jazz bar to true turn of the century retro glamour, when burlesque dancers entered and preformed to customers with class, energy and national standard skill? The answer is a combination of all of the above. In the heart of the bustling city Proud’s newest venture provides everything you could want from a night out.”

“We have been to Fuel a few times over the summer for drinks after work. The balcony is great in the sunshine and their happy hour is great value, particularly the 2-4-1 cocktail offer. We have stayed late a few times on a Friday and the atmosphere was really lively, with a great mix of people. The bartenders were very friendly and helpful and the drinks were pretty good too. Great atmosphere and value for money.”

The Clay Oven (Restaurant)
13 The Mall, Ealing, London, W5 2PJ
“The clay oven lounge in kingsbury was the most pathetic experience of my life having indian food in london. We booked a table for 13 well in advance for around 8pm. We got there by that time and were seated. It was saturday night and so as expected it was busy but what was not expected was incompetent staff, disgusting service, awful food and the manager behaving weird. For placing order for starters, we had to wait roughly 30 minutes and than when the food started coming out, we saw that we were getting wrong items or items were being missed and so we politely reminded the waiter about the same - he did bring in missing items but they were not what we ordered. We had to than wait for another 45 minutes to place orders for mains and now is where the major issues start. Since the starters were not upto the mark we didnt order all our mains at one go. We ordered in one lot and than tasted what is good and than ordered the second lot. After ordering second lot we didnt get food for 45 minutes - we reminded the waiting staff once and he said its coming. When we got the second lot, more than half of our order was missing and so we again told the waiter as to what was missing. He went away and didnt turn up for 20-25 minutes. After that the manager turns up and says that we cant keep on ordering in bits and pieces - i politely first informed him that we ordered in 2 lots not in bits and pieces and that his staff kept on missing items. He was adamant that we should not order like this and that his waiting staff was correct and started arguing with us. At this point, we all were furious as anyone would be, and we told him to cancel the pending order and his response was "I will cancel it and never come to my restaurant again". The funniest thing was after he said that, we got a bill which had all the items we ordered including the ones he cancelled. We called him again to discuss this and without listening he snatched the bill from us and rudely took it away. When we asked his name and tried to take his photograph he panicked and started calling the bouncers as if we were doing nuisance. He started speaking to the waiting staff in local language and one of the other locals there later told us that he was swearing at us. As a customer we ordered stuff and we paid for it so i guess we did our duty, did this guy do his bit?? I seriously doubt - in a customer services business i do understand that mistakes happen but u just have to own it and correct it.”

“It was quite quiet when i visited st James, so me and my friends decided to eat in the more casual part of he bar - great service and relaxing atmosphere meant we spent far longer (and far much more money) than we had intended to! I do intended to go back and dine the restuarant, as i've heard great things!”

Hi Sushi (Restaurant)
40 Frith Street, Soho, London, W1D 5LN
“Was there last night with two friends. We were waiting about 15min for our table, our fault though, since we were late for our reservation. service started quickly after we were seated next to a group of 5. The shared tables can be very cozy, but I we were fine with that and it was actually quite funny to laugh about your table neighbours jokes and vice versa. However, I would not recommend going there for a nice and quite dinner. Sushi is mainly Salmon based and quality is average but definitly okay given the price. Service is quick and efficient, but against the experience of other users we didn't find it unfriendly or rude at all. Even though it was packed and they were pretty busy they devoted enough time to answer our questions concerning the order process and the non sushi food. If you're in it for cheap and okay Sushi and don't mind sharing tables with strangers, I think this is quite a decent place to go. Don't go if you are looking for high quality sushi or a classy dining experience. I will go again.”

“I tried this place out the other day. It was beautiful in the sunshine but it's a shame the roof covered most of the seating area. We couldn't make the most of the sun's rays. Also, lots of people were smoking around us when we were trying to eat, which was a bit off putting. Other than that the terrace is in a good location and was perfect after a hard morning of shopping!”

“Very poor experience. went there for 10 minutes and consider it as a waste of time. The only good thing about this place is the interior...designer made a good job. On the ground floor at least. Overpriced. Quality of crowd and service comparble to cheap West End clubs. And impolite lady at the door along with an aggressive bouncer are just the icing on the cake. You'll better off going to any other place in Kensington.”
