Guests at Doubletree by Hilton can now do their bit for the environment and help support a new forest being planted in honour of the Diamond Jubilee just by ordering an Afternoon Tea.

The hotel brand, with branches throughout London as well as around the UK, will donate £2 to the Woodland Trust's Jubilee Woods project for each Afternoon Tea purchased.

The project aims to inspire people from all around the country to come together to plant six million trees by the end of 2012. The trees donated from the hotel's Summer Tree Tea will be planted in the Diamond Wood being created in the heart of the National Forest in Leicestershire.

The Afternoon Tea, priced at £18.95 for the Victoria branch, or £25 in the West End, includes all the British favourites, from delicate Scottish smoked salmon sandwiches to warm scones with clotted cream and jam (pictured here)

The free-range eggs and shiso cress, and honey-roasted ham and mature cheddar, sandwiches hit the spot - flavoursome and moist - while the scones are indulgent and crumbly.

Beef and horseradish, and prawn and cucumber, complete the generous selection of sandwiches. After the first two courses, a third layer on the stylish Afternoon Tea stand awaits. Assorted macaroons, a pretty framboisier and a tasty chocolatine are arranged on the top layer, with a DoubleTree meringue with chocolate cream – in other words, a shot of chocolate goodness crowned by a large green meringue lid, which resembles a tree – providing the woodland twist to the otherwise classic Afternoon Tea.

There is of course a good selection of teas to accompany the sandwiches and cakes, from staples such as Earl Grey to more exotic fusions like lemongrass and ginger.

The deluxe hotel in Victoria presents a peaceful escape from the noise and bustle of this part of SW1. Black and grey leather with accents of pink make up the interior design: perfect for business meetings, but also girlie catch-ups over an Afternoon Tea.

For those wanting a more indulgent experience, there is a £32 option, which includes a glass of Piper-Hiedsieck Brut, éclairs and fruit tartlets.

"Terrible customer service. No smile and a point to the table we were meant to be seated at instead of an escort like you would expect from a good quality restaurant. One waitress even said they were not..." Which venue is this?
